Acid nitriding is a nitriding method that differs from conventional nitriding methods by adding an appropriate amount of oxygen or air to ammonia gas. Developed by Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.'s Central Research Institute under the name NN method as a non-polluting nitriding method that does not cause cyanide synthesis in the processing atmosphere during the 1960s, when pollution became a social issue, this technology has been introduced and put into practical use by Onex Co., Ltd., which has since made its own improvements. Onex Co., Ltd.'s acid nitriding is based on the ON process and includes three types of processes: ONO and ONOR, each possessing excellent characteristics. Compared to gas soft nitriding, acid nitriding shows almost the same properties in wear resistance and fatigue strength, but it has the added features of excellent corrosion resistance, seizure resistance, compatibility, and a beautiful black appearance. As a refractory material under high temperatures, SiC (silicon carbide) maintains its strength sufficiently compared to concerns about strength degradation with conventional cordierite and alumina. It is also optimal for firing heavy objects and for environments that require high purity, such as electronic devices and electrode materials that are sensitive to impurities.

The "PTCR" is a furnace temperature distribution detection ring that can record the temperature at its installation position due to shape changes caused by the shrinkage of ceramics, in response to heat input such as conduction, radiation, or convection.
